Amid all the hype around PFL’s much-anticipated thriller Francis Ngannou vs. Renan Ferreira, Dana White’s Fight Night took place this weekend. Though the event wasn’t the most thrilling, with 9 out of 11 fights going to decision, there were still a couple of exciting finishes. Thanks to these fighters, despite the overall lackluster action, a few standout performances added some excitement and scored them a sweet $50K bonus from the UFC boss.
Speaking of bonuses, the headliner delivered a standout performance. At UFC Vegas 99, Anthony Hernandez earned a “Performance of the Night” bonus for his technical knockout victory over Michel Pereira. In the main event, Hernandez put on a strong performance with effective grappling, managing to withstand the Brazilian’s early momentum. Subsequently, in the middle of the final round, he secured a takedown followed by ground and pound, winning the fight by knockout.
In addition to the headliner, Darren Elkins faced Daniel Pineda, winning by unanimous decision and securing the “Fight of the Night” bonus. Undoubtedly, the featherweight fight between Elkins and Pineda was the highlight of the night.
Pineda, despite the odds, showed a solid display of resilience and kept pushing the 40-year-old Elkins, delivering a memorable performance that fans will remember for a while. To sum up, Hernandez, Elkins, and Pineda were the three fighters who each earned $50,000 from White.
