After facing setbacks in the boxing ring against well-known boxers like Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, Francis Ngannou is finally making his comeback in the octagon. After 33 months, ‘The Predator’ will make his walk to an octagon. In his debut on the promotion, he will face the PFL heavyweight champion Renan Ferreira for the PFL Super Fight belt. Notably, his fight will take place on October 19.
As of now, the PFL has not revealed the venue for this fight. However, fans will see Cris Cyborg vs. Larissa Pacheco in the night’s co-main event. Despite signing with the PFL in May 2023, Ngannou has not competed in an MMA bout since his last UFC fight in January 2022. ‘The Predator’ last fought in an MMA bout when he defended the UFC heavyweight title against Ciryl Gane at UFC 270 in January 2022. Later on, after this fight, he left the UFC due to a contract dispute.
This super-fight will be a five-round bout. Additionally, it will be a PPV event, with the fight card broadcast on both DAZN and ESPN+. However, Ngannou faced significant defeats in boxing and is coming back to MMA after a long hiatus. The question remains – will he be able to dominate as he did in his prime? Only time will tell the outcome.
A Look At Francis Ngannou’s Boxing Setbacks
After leaving the UFC, ‘The Predator’ tried his hand at boxing but couldn’t dominate as he did in MMA. He faced heavyweight boxers Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua. Ngannou knocked down Fury in the third round, taking the fight to the scorecards, where the judges awarded Fury a controversial split-decision victory.
In his other fight, Joshua knocked down Ngannou with right hands in the first and second rounds, securing an easy win in March. However, fans eagerly anticipate Ngannou’s upcoming MMA super fight at PFL, hoping to see him return to his prime form.
