One significant clash is Irish superstar Conor McGregor taking on former Bellator champion Michael Chandler in the cage. The two lightweight aces are set to collide at the main event of UFC 302 in June. A certain MMA veteran has been surprised by Conor’s reluctance to get involved in trash talks before his bouts.
Conor is often considered one of the best trash talkers in the company. Many will agree that he became one of the biggest stars in the ring, mainly due to his venomous tongue. But the Irish great seems to be avoiding any verbal altercation before the UFC 302.
UFC Veteran expresses concern over Conor McGregor
Chael Sonnen has fought for the company’s UFC gold in two weight divisions. The man knows what it takes to be at the absolute top in the MMA world. Sonnen was considered one of the best trash-talkers back in the day. On his YouTube channel, Sonnen was seen talking about Conor’s unusual self before his fight in the cage. Chael said,
The greatest entertainer, the greatest talker in all of sports not just ours is Conor McGregor. He did that by speaking.
Chael Sonnen is still shocked that Conor is aiming jabs at Michael Chandler before their scheduled fight. He revealed that Conor poked his opponents to the fullest during the fight week. Many believe that years back, Conor aggravated former Featherweight champion Jose Aldo to the point where Aldo reacted emotionally in the cage. McGregor finished him in the first round with a single strike.
The Irish MMA star seems much more relaxed a month before UFC 302. Conor McGregor hasn’t fought since breaking his leg three years ago in a fight against Dustin Poirier. Before and after the bout with Poirier, Conor aimed a lot of trash talk toward the veteran. It will be interesting to see if Conor will do the same with Michael Chandler in the upcoming weeks as his fight week gets closer.
