Conor McGregor, the former two-division UFC champion, has been out of action since sustaining a leg injury at UFC 264 in July 2021 during his bout with Dustin Poirier. Despite the setback, McGregor is pushing for UFC management to start preparing for his comeback to the octagon.
Finally, McGregor appears to have a set date for his return to the UFC, as he revealed during an interview on The MMA Hour that he and the UFC have reached formal agreements for his highly anticipated comeback fight, which has been talked about extensively but frequently postponed.
Conor McGregor’s Return Date
Conor McGregor has suggested that he may soon make his highly anticipated comeback to the UFC. ‘The Notorious’ has been sidelined since suffering a broken left leg during a TKO loss to Dustin Poirier in July 2021.
Last year, there were talks of a matchup between McGregor and long-standing rival Michael Chandler, following their roles as coaches on season 31 of The Ultimate Fighter. Despite McGregor’s earlier hint at a potential return against Chandler in June during International Fight Week, there hasn’t been any official confirmation yet.
But during an interview on The MMA Hour on Wednesday, McGregor announced that he and the UFC have reached a formal agreement for his much-discussed comeback fight, which has been delayed numerous times. McGregor stated, “The call has been made and we’re a go,”
“This means this summer, the Mac is back. So with I’m happy with my time I’ve got in the lead-up to it, I’m happy with where I’m at, and everything just works out in God’s name. And I’m ecstatic where I’m at. I’ve got great news the other day.”
