Former UFC Interim welterweight champion Colby Covington is gearing up for his fight against Joaquin Buckley over the weekend. For several years, the sixth-ranked fighter in the UFC Welterweight Division has launched attacks on NBA superstar LeBron James online. Recently, ‘Chaos’ took another shot at the Los Angeles Lakers star over his connection with controversial music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs.
During his Wednesday UFC Tampa pre-fight press conference, Covington blasted James over his “there’s no party like a Diddy party” comment and hoped to see the four-time NBA champion behind bars with Diddy.
“I wanna ask LeBron, what does he mean by “there’s no party like a Diddy party?” I truly want to know. And LeBron, how many Diddy parties have you actually been to? Is that the reason you left social media, because of all the backlash you were getting for going to so many Diddy parties? It’s just pathetic, man,” Covington stated.

“People think this guy’s a role model… LeBron, you’re a f***ing scumbag, and I hope you get locked up in the same cell with Diddy,” Covington added.
Colby Covington Is Stepping Into The Octagon After Almost One-Year Absence
Covington last fought in December 2023, where he lost against Leon Edwards at UFC 296 via unanimous decision. The 36-year-old UFC fighter will return to the octagon just shy of a year-long absence. Covington claimed to have broken his ankle in the early stages of the fight against Edwards, which was the leading cause of his loss.
On the other hand, Covington’s UFC 296 opponent, Joaquin Buckley, has a 20-6 MMA record. However, the 30-year-old has faced defeats against lesser-skilled fighters than an aging Covington. With the 36-year-old MMA fighter returning after two days short of a one-year absence, it will be interesting to see who will win this year’s final UFC main event.
