Conor McGregor and Jake Gyllenhaal are collaborating on a new movie project, with McGregor making his acting debut in the remake of “Road House” directed by Doug Liman. The film premiered at South by Southwest on March 8, 2024, and will be streaming on Prime Video via Amazon MGM Studios starting March 21, 2024. McGregor’s role in the movie signifies a major shift for the celebrated fighter into the realm of cinema, alongside co-star Jake Gyllenhaal. However, Gyllenhaal recently disclosed that McGregor accidentally struck him during filming.

Gyllenhaal and McGregor co-star in the remake of the 1989 action film. Gyllenhaal plays a former UFC middleweight who clashes with various foes, including McGregor in his film debut. Gyllenhaal recently revealed that McGregor accidentally hit him in the face during one of their fight scene rehearsals. Despite the mishap, Gylenhaal praised McGregor‘s professionalism and their collaboration on set.
“So it was like 3 a.m., and he was talking to me really close, and he was like, ‘Yeah, like that left hook looks good, but then when you do it like, boom [showing fake punch],’ and he hit me by mistake. It was almost like … and I was like, ‘Oh!’ And he was like, ‘Oh!'” Gyllenhaal said.
Gyllenhaal confessed feeling anxious about collaborating with the former two-division UFC champion. Initially excited about McGregor joining the project, Gyllenhaal became nervous at the prospect of staging fight scenes with him. Despite staying in good shape, they underwent two months of intense training, including grappling and MMA, to prepare for their roles.
