The UFC has seen its fair share of heated confrontations, like the one between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor’s friend, which ignited a legendary rivalry. Now, another potential feud is brewing as Mario Bautista, who calls for a fight, confronts Henry Cejudo. However, the interaction didn’t go well for Bautista, as Cejudo mocked him, turning the situation into another memorable moment that could lead to an exciting rivalry in the UFC.
Recently, after extending his winning streak to seven with a victory over legend Jose Aldo at UFC 307, Bautista has openly stated that he is targeting another potential legend: Cejudo. However, it seems the Olympian isn’t keen on the idea of facing Bautista. Now, when the two fighters crossed paths backstage at LFA 196, Bautista didn’t hesitate to challenge ‘CCC’ to a fight.
In the video, Cejudo was clearly not interested in fighting Bautista. When he got called out, he didn’t hold back from asserting his dominance in the sport, listing his Olympic gold medal and two title belts in the flyweight and bantamweight divisions. Subsequently, Cejudo calls him a “boring” fighter and claims no one would want to fight him despite his performance against Aldo.
Replying to that, Bautista pointed out Cejudo’s two-fight losing streak and contrasted it with his own seven-fight win streak. To which, the former UFC champ defended his losses, saying that he had fought top-level opponents—one a reigning champion, the other a former champ—and taunted Bautista, questioning whether he had what it takes to back up his challenge.
Mario Bautista Didn’t Like Henry Cejudo Calling Out Sean O’Malley For A Fight
The rivalry began when Cejudo called out O’Malley instead of Bautista. After his win against Aldo, Bautista called out ‘Triple C,’ expressing his frustration over Cejudo challenging ‘Suga’ instead. Bautista stated that he didn’t like Cejudo’s choice and made it clear he was ready to face any tough challenger.
“He has kind of called out Sean O’Malley after Sean’s loss, and I don’t like that. If he wants to fight someone that’s tough and coming up the rankings, he can fight me,” Baustia stated.
