Every day that the war between Russia and Ukraine continues, the uglier it gets. And based on recent reports out of Ukraine, it appears as though thing may have reached a new low.
According to several sources, Ukrainian MMA fighter Maxim Ryndovsky was being held hostage by Ukrainian nationalists due to his ties to a Chechen MMA team as well as his recent visits to the Donetsk People’s Republic (DNR) and the Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR).
There’s also footage of Maxim being tortured by the Ukrainian nationalists, which has been posted to Twitter. We won’t post the video on here, but you can find it on the Twitter page of @politblogme.
Here are some of the reports that have been circulating on Twitter, as well as the sources’ credentials.

Maxim has been identified as the hostage in the video based on his leg tattoos, which you can see in the photos below:
Most of Ryndovsky’s social media accounts have also reportedly disappeared. The only one that remains is his Twitch account, where he has made his stance against the war quite clear with his “We need peace! FCK WAR!” posts.
This is just the latest concerning case of an athlete getting caught up in the brutal war involving Ukraine and Russia.
This weekend it was also reported that WNBA star Brittany Griner has been detained in Russia for at least three weeks now after getting caught at a Moscow airport with products containing cannabis oils.
