When it comes to the bond with the Dagestani camp, no one holds a closer relationship than Daniel Cormier. The former UFC double champion turned commentator has forged a deep connection with the fighters from the region, gaining their respect and admiration over the years. In a funny twist, Usman Nurmagomedov jokingly asks DC to pay for the compensation his brother lost because of him.
In a recent chat with Brian Campbell, Bellator champion Usman Nurmagomedov shared a funny yet surprising story. He revealed that Cormier, the former UFC double champion, concussed his sparring partner, Amru Magomedov, with an uppercut during a sparring session in Usman’s camp for his fight with Shabliy.
Subsequently, after the punch, Amru suffered from headaches, couldn’t train for about a month and a half, and had to undergo IV therapy. Usman jokingly called out DC, asking him to pay Amru for the 1.5 months of lost income.
In his words, “Daniel Cormier last time when I was preparing for my fight with Alexander Shabily he come to the cage and he make some injury to my brother. He gave him an uppercut and this guy we come back to dagestan and this guy had a headache for like one and a half months. And he cannot train. He did IV, hip recover. He lose lot of money and Cormier have to pay him.”

Daniel Cormier Slams UFC Star For Admitting Fear Against Alex Pereira
Cormier recently talking on ‘Good Guy Bad Buy’ admitted he always kept his fears to himself, even when doubt crept in. Talking about the same, he slams Chris Curtis who openly admits fear. For those who don’t know, Curtis turned down a last-minute fight with Alex Pereira, worried he’d be “destroyed.” For DC, expressing fear doesn’t align with the fighter mentality, and he feels it’s best kept under wraps.

He said, “Him [Chris Curtis] saying that… As a fighter, you don’t tell that there’s a guy walking around that you don’t think you can beat and that you’re unwilling to get in there with him.”
It’ll be interesting to see whether fighters heed Cormier’s advice and stay silent about their fears or if they’ll continue being open about everything. Will they stick to the old-school mentality of keeping it all in, or will the new school where everything is fully transparent, no matter the cost?
