Tom Aspinall is a professional English mixed martial fighter. He is the current Interim UFC Heavyweight Champion and participates in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Heavyweight division. He is number twelve in the UFC men’s pound-for-pound rankings as of May 2024.
Mixed martial artists have a long and varied history of appearing alongside athletics in films and television shows. The Octagon’s outstanding physique and endearing characters can frequently provide an alluring presence in motion pictures and television series.
The most recent UFC celebrity to venture into scripted entertainment is Conor McGregor, who co-starred with Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal in Road House (2024), a remake of the 1989 movie of the same name starring Patrick Swayze. In the updated version, Gyllenhaal plays a former UFC fighter who finds employment in the Florida Keys, where McGregor fills the heavyweight role.
Tom Aspinall said he was also offered a role in a movie, but unlike Conor McGregor, the fighter turned it down to stay focused on his fighting career.
What Is Next For Aspinall In UFC?
At UFC 304 on July 27, 2024, Aspinall will rematch with Curtis Blaydes to defend his temporary championship.
To unify his title with heavyweight champion Jon Jones, Aspinall (14-3 MMA, 7-1 UFC) will have to wait until Jones defends his title against Stipe Miocic. Meanwhile, on July 27 at the Co-op Live in Manchester, England, Aspinall defends his interim championship in a rematch against Curtis Blaydes (18-4 MMA, 13-4 UFC) in the co-main event of UFC 304 (pay-per-view, ESPN, ESPN+).
