The Bantamweight division might be the best in the UFC, as it is completely loaded with stars from top to bottom. Sean O’Malley is the reigning champion in the company. He last fought Marlon Vera in the main event of UFC 299 and put up an absolute clinic, as Vera had no answer to O’Malley’s striking. The Bantamweight King is looking at all the options he can take on, and he has recently threatened his possible opponents in the boxing and MMA worlds.
Merab Dvalishvili is most probably the next to challenge Sean O’Malley for the Bantamweight gold.
Sean O’Malley sends out threats to his opponents
Sean O’Malley is still looking for his next opponent in the cage. He has stated that he wants to be an active champion in the UFC. On his podcast a few weeks back, he admitted that Merab is next in line for a title shot. O’Malley had some words for his plausible opponents in the cage and possibly the boxing ring. The Championship Rounds reported that Sean said,
Yea Merab sucks, that’s easy. Alright well I’ll f*** you up later G.
In a conversation with Ryan Garcia on the phone, O’Malley claimed that Merab would be easily fought in the octagon. After finishing Merab, he will take on and beat Ryan Garcia in the boxing ring. Sean O’Malley will face the best wrestler in the Bantamweight division right now. Merab has immense wrestling credentials, has taken down every one of his opponents, and has gotten on a ten-fight win streak in the octagon.
O’Malley must work on his take-down defense to score a victory against the Georgian. Sean’s head coach, Tim Welch, made it clear that Sean would be sniping Merab out from a distance, a fighting style he had worn in almost all of his bouts in the past. It will be interesting to see what happens when Merab and O’Malley are locked in the cage together. Who will end this year as the Bantamweight champion in the UFC? Only time will tell.
