Khabib Nurmagomedov retired in 2020 with a perfect 29-0 record. He walked away at the peak of his powers, leaving fans and analysts alike in awe. His reason was a promise to his mother following his father’s passing. Now, ‘The Eagle’ has spoken, but it’s not the news some fans were hoping to hear.
Fast forward to today, and the rumor mill keeps churning. Every time Nurmagomedov talks, someone speculates about his return. But the man himself is having none of it. The Dagestani destroyer has once again shut down any whispers of a comeback. In a recent event in Malaysia, Khabib didn’t mince words.
“There is no chance. Not even one percent,” said Nurmagedov.
But why would he come back? As Khabib Nurmagomedov put it, his team has got it covered. Islam Makhachev, Umar, Usman, these guys are carrying the torch. They’re like the Avengers of MMA but with Sambo and extreme domination.
But fans still hope that a miracle might happen and they can see their favorite fighter back in the octagon. But maybe it was the right move. ‘The Eagle‘ left the sport at an all-time high, is still the only undefeated champion and his legacy is now set in stone.
Khabib Nurmagomedov Reveals Islam Makhachev’s Comeback Date
‘The Eagle’ may have hung up his gloves, but he didn’t stray far from the octagon. Instead, he switched gears and became a coach. His star pupil is none other than Islam Makhachev, and he recently dropped some exciting news for MMA fans. He’s spilled the beans on when fans can expect to see Makhachev back in action.

Khabib Nurmagomedov revealed that Makhachev is gearing up for a comeback in January. The UFC has already offered them a fight, and they’ve accepted.
“UFC offered us a fight already, in January. We accepted it. UFC will announce very soon where it will take place and who will be Islam’s opponent. I will not make an announcement myself, but I can say that we are focused on January,” said Nurmagomedov via Ushatayka.
Makhachev’s not just any fighter. He’s the current lightweight champ and the pound-for-pound best. If Makhachev wins his next fight, he will make history. He’ll break a 14-year record for most title defenses in the lightweight division, even surpassing his mentor!
