The bantamweight division is packed with excitement for fans. Merab Dvalishvili, Sean O’Malley, and Umar Nurmagomedov have been trading jabs on social media, keeping fans entertained with their ongoing war of words. Now, Umar is accusing Dvalishvili of dodging him yet again when it comes to scheduling a fight.
Recently, the controversy reignited when ‘Suga’ Sean O’Malley posted a video claiming he rewatched the fight and believes he won the 1st, 3rd, and 5th rounds. This led fans to reanalyze the bout, with many siding with O’Malley. The buzz quickly spread across social media, catching the attention of Dvalishvili. In response, ‘The Machine’ took to X, stating that if O’Malley wants a rematch, he’s all in. In his post, the Georgian fighter wrote:
“I hear O’Malley thinks he won the fight and is looking for a rematch. If he wants it he can have it. Let’s do it November 16th at the Garden and then I’ll still defend the title against whoever the UFC wants me to fight next. What do you think? @SugaSeanMMA”
‘The Young Eagle’ quickly mocked ‘The Machine’ once again, taking to X to call out Dvalishvili for seemingly avoiding a fight with him. He attached a string of laughing face emojis, clearly amused by the situation. In his post, he wrote:
“He ready to fight with anyone except Umar Nurmagomedov.”

Is Merab Dvalishvili Dodging Umar Nurmagomedov?
To answer it simply, no. The Georgian fighter has responded to Umar’s persistent callouts. After dominating Sean O’Malley over five rounds at UFC 306 to claim the bantamweight title, Dvalishvili hinted at his next potential opponent, with many speculating it could be Nurmagomedov.
Previously, Dvalishvili dismissed Umar’s title shot credentials, attributing his success to his cousin, Khabib Nurmagomedov. During the UFC 306 post-fight press conference, Dvalishvili even mentioned Deiveson Figueiredo as a more deserving challenger. However, he recently addressed the situation, stating:
“Guys- I hear all of you! I am a company man. Whoever the UFC puts in front of me, I will fight as I always do, even if I don’t think they deserve the next shot. Let’s Go”.
It seems Dvalishvili is now open to facing any challenger, including Nurmagomedov, setting up what could be an explosive matchup in the bantamweight division.
