Back in November, the news came down that Rachael Ostovich had to suddenly pull out of her fight with Paige VanZant, which was scheduled for January 2019, due to brutal injuries she suffered during an attack that was carried out by her husband. The UFC Flyweight was hospitalized after suffering a broken orbital bone following an attack by MMA fighter Arnold Berdon who was booked for suspicion of 2nd degree attempted murder at the time.
According to Hawaii News Now, Ostovich wrote that Berdon punched her repeatedly on the head, face, and ribs during the attack which left her gasping for breath. Also in the temporary restraining order, obtained by Hawaii News Now, Ostovich describes how she had to escape through the balcony and that she coughed up blood and vomited several times.
None of that seemed to matter by the time May 2019 came around because the now estranged husband of Rachael Ostovich has received a very weak punishment for his actions.
“The estranged husband of UFC fighter Rachael Ostovich just got 4 years probation in his domestic violence case … stemming from a violent attack back in November.
As for Berdon … after his initial arrest, prosecutors downgraded the charge to 2nd-degree assault — and he pled no contest back in March.
Berdon was sentenced on Thursday to 4 years probation — which appears to be a good deal for Berdon considering he was facing up to 5 years in prison.”
Ostovich has since filed for divorce following that vicious attack.
