A guy named Quinton Wright has been charged with criminal mischief after he allegedly tried to break into UFC heavyweight Derrick Lewis’ car earlier this week in Houston. Lewis told police he was returning to his car after a workout and encountered a man trying to break into the driver’s side with a screwdriver, according to the police report obtained by MMAFighting.
Lewis then punched the man and threw him to the ground. The 36-year-old Wright was then taken to a hospital for treatment and was in the process of being booked into jail, a spokesperson for the Houston Police Department told MMA Fighting.
“Mofo pick right/wrong car to break into,” Lewis said, stating the obvious before noting the alleged thief was OK. Lewis posted a picture of the man being put into a police car as well as a video showing the damage to his car, saying “Motherfucker tried to break into my shit.”
On Wednesday, Lewis posted a booking photo of Wright with the caption, “He’s ok.”
Wright was charged with criminal mischief “because our winner did not get into the vehicle,” spokesperson Jodi Silva said.
