Dana White and Hunter Campbel have often praised Conor McGregor’s professionalism in the fight business. Therefore, like the fans, they were hoping to see McGregor back in action. However, an injury forced his highly anticipated return to face Michael Chandler at UFC 303.
Neither the UFC nor McGregor has yet disclosed the nature of the injury. However, McGregor had posted and deleted a clip on social media that alluded to a potential injury. “I think the more resistance you train with, the less movement and the more injury. The less resistance you train with, the more movement and the less injury,” McGregor said in the clip.
McGregor had suffered ACL and MCL damage when he fought Max Holloway. Moreover, he broke his lower left tibia when he fought Dustin Poirier in the trilogy fight. Therefore, the injury McGregor suffered is likely to be in his legs. McGregor will likely provide an explanation on social media in the coming hours.
Chael Sonnen stated that McGregor wouldn’t fight again in MMA if he didn’t fight at UFC 303. Michael Chandler has waited almost two years for the fight to materialize. Unfortunately, the fight has eluded him at arm’s length. Nonetheless, whether the UFC will rebook the fight remains to be seen.
