Khamzat Chimaev recently withdrew from his scheduled fight against Robert Whittaker at UFC Saudi Arabia. According to Dana White, Chimaev was violently ill for some time. However, White replaced Chimaev with Ikram Aliskerov, who has a history with Chimaev.
Ikram Aliskerov Fought Khamzat Chimaev at Brave CF
Khamzat Chimaev is a wrecking machine. The undefeated Chechen fighter’s superior wrestling was too much for any fighter to handle. Only Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns provided a tough fight for Chimaev, losing via close decisions.
Only Usman and Burns had gone the total distance against Chimaev. No other fighter had gone past the second round. However, Ikram Aliskerov had given Chimaev a run for his money in the early days of their careers.
Chimaev fought Aliskerov at Brave CF 23 in a 180lb catchweight bout. The fight lasted just half a round, with the former knocking out the latter with an uppercut. However, Chimaev couldn’t smother Aliskerov in wrestling, proving to be an equal. Aliskerov is now 2-0 in the UFC, with knockout finishes over Warlley Alves and Phil Hawes.
Nonetheless, there was a streak difference in the striking department. With the victory, Chimaev moved to 5-0. On the other hand, Aliskerov fell to 8-1. Since the loss, Aliskerov has remained unbeaten. However, how Aliskerov performs at UFC Saudi Arabia remains to be seen.
