Michael Chandler waited almost two years to fight with Conor McGregor at UFC 303. Unfortunately, McGregor pulled out due to injury, and the UFC scrapped the fight, replacing it with Alex Pereira vs. Jiri Prochazka II. The MMA community pitied Chandler, which “Iron” seemed to dislike. Nonetheless, it looks like Chandler has other priorities on International Fight Week.
Michael Chandler Rallies Behind Donald Trump
An overwhelming section of the UFC community endorses Donald Trump, the former President of the USA. Foreign fighters like Khabib Nurmagomedov, Alex Pereira, Israel Adesanya, Dricus du Plessis, and others have endorsed the former POTUS. Michael Chandler has recently been very public about his endorsement of Trump.
“Big fights this weekend at #ufc303 – but an even bigger fight happens tonight in this #presidentialdebate – #imwiththeFELON,” Chandler tweeted on X. The #imwiththeFELON is due to Trump’s recent conviction at a New York courtroom for 34 counts of falsifying business records. Many, especially the MAGA supporters, felt that the decision of the judicial system was a threat to democracy.
When the court found Trump guilty, Chandler posted a picture of himself with the former POTUS, showing his support. “You’ve been in my corner, now I’m in yours. You know where I stand…and you know who I stand with. See you at the top!” Chandler captioned the post.
As for his next fight, Chandler flirted with the idea of fighting Max Holloway for the BMF title. However, Holloway will likely be next for Ilia Topuria, the featherweight champion, at UFC 307. With McGregor’s return most likely not happening till December, Chandler’s future is uncertain.
