Fight fans, brace yourselves for another UFC lineup change. It seems the Octagon gods have other plans for August 3rd in Abu Dhabi. The highly anticipated Nick Diaz comeback fight against Vicente Luque is off the menu. Instead, fans are now getting a fresh middleweight matchup. Shara Magomedov and Michal Oleksiejczuk will now serve as the co-main event.
This last-minute switch added some spice to an already intriguing fight card. Magomedov enters the bout with an unblemished 13-0 record. The undefeated Russian is looking to make waves in the middleweight division.
On the flip side, Oleksiejczuk is hoping to right the ship after recent struggles. The Polish fighter has lost three of his last four bouts. This matchup has all the makings of a classic “rising star vs. veteran” showdown. It remains to be seen whether Magomedov continue his climb or Oleksiejczuk will derail the hype train.
Both fighters are coming off recent outings, adding an element of quick turnaround drama. Magomedov last fought in June, scoring a third-round TKO victory. Oleksiejczuk, meanwhile, is looking to bounce back from a submission loss to Kevin Holland in June as well. He’s got his work cut out for him against the surging Magomedov. The timing of this fight is crucial for both men’s careers. Plus, this is one of the only venues where Magomedov can showcase his incredible talent.
UFC CEO Content On Keeping Shara Magomedov In The Middle East
The middlewight division is witnessing a renaissance. New talent is coming in, showcasing their talent and will, one of them being Magomedov. The undefeated Russian phenom might be grounded before he can even take off in the US.
Dana White dropped this bombshell at the UFC Saudi Arabia post-fight press conference. Magmedov had just fought and defeated Antonio Trocoli via a Technical Knockout. “Can he? Probably not – we’ll keep him out here.” White stated.

It must be noted that White’s hesitance to try to set a fight for Magomedov in the US is solely due to the Athletic Commissions. Fight fans are well aware that Shara Magomedov is legally blind in one eye, and as such, no commission in the US would give him clearance to fight. But the Middle East is a different story. He can fight there with full clearance from their Athletic Commissions.
