Conor McGregor has generated more profits for the UFC than any other fighter. The former two-division champion is also the highest-paid. Fighters like Khabib Nurmagomedov and Dustin Poirier benefited financially from their fights with the Irishman. Another fighter looking to do the same is Michael Chandler. However, things don’t look good for the former Bellator champion.
Poirier Stirs Controversy with Callout of McGregor
The UFC had scheduled Conor McGregor’s return fight at UFC 303 against Michael Chandler. However, the Irishman withdrew due to a toe injury. Nonetheless, Chandler attended the event. Also in attendance was Dustin Poirier, who is 2-1 against McGregor and has beaten Chandler. Interestingly, Poirier’s recent tweet has Chandler fans enraged on social media.
“Hey @TheNotoriousMMA it felt so nice, I did it twice ya bumskie,” Poirier tweeted on X, seemingly angling for a fourth fight with the Irishman. He had recently fought Islam Makhachev and lost. The 35-year-old had contemplated retirement after the loss but seemed to have a change of heart. Fights fans are now accusing him of sabotaging Chandler’s money fight.

Poirier had already revealed his contempt for Chandler, which the latter has acknowledged. The former interim lightweight champion’s decision put the 38-year-old’s two-year wait for McGregor in vain. A fourth fight against Poirier is financially more lucrative for the UFC than McGregor vs. Chandler.
Moreover, although Poirier is 2-1 against the former two-division champion, his latest victory against McGregor was due to the Irishman’s injury. Will Michael Chandler wait until later this year to fight with McGregor, or will Poirier sabotage his plans? Only time will till.
