What would happen if an Armenian sought help from a Chechen to take down a Dagestani? It seemed the direction of the UFC 308 main event is going as Arman Tsarukyan hopes to seek help from Khamzat Chimaev to take on Islam Makhachev. Chimaev has had troubles with Team Khabib in the past but later reconciled. The new development might reopen old wounds.
Speaking to Sport 24 on YouTube, the number one-ranked lightweight revealed he is part of the upcoming Hype Reality 3. Interestingly, Tsarukyan revealed, “[Khamzat] is there [on the set], and if there is an opportunity to train with him, it would be good. Since he is tall and can work in a left-handed stance, it would be good,” adding Chimaev has a similar build to Makhachev.
As the 27-year-old stated, the Chechen and Dagestani are Southpaws, but Chimaev is 6’2″ with a 75″ reach, and Makhachev is 5’10” with a 70″ reach. Moreover, Borz has a pressure-fighting style, while Makhachev has a counter-attacking approach. However, they have a similar ground game, mainly the back takes and submissions.
Makhachev is the pound-for-pound kind, and Tsarukyan would need all the help he could get to defeat him. Having already fought him, the Armenian might know what he would get into when facing the 32-year-old. However, their first fight was years ago, and asking for help for the rematch is a step in the right direction.
Tsarukyan Gears Up for Makhachev with Abdulrashid Sadulaev
Islam Makhachev’s grappling and wrestling prowess made it hard for opponents to defeat him. Often, opponents have focused on defending the Russian fighter’s attacks. However, Arman Tsarukyan attacked Makhachev when they first fought, and it looks like he would be doing the same as he is training with Abdulrashid Sadulaev.
“With the best wrestler in the world @sadulaev_abdulrashid,” Tsarukyan captioned his latest Instagram video post, showing him wrestling with Sadulaev. Known as the Russian Tank, Sadulaev has won two Olympic golds, five World Championships, the Individual World Cup, four European Continental titles, two Ivan Yarygin Grand Prix, two European Games, and two Cadet World Championships – meaning he is the best at what he does.

With Chimaev and Sadulaev by his side, will Tsarukyan upset Makhachev to become the lightweight champion? It is difficult as Makhachev has Khabib Nurmagomedov by his side, and Khabib has outwrestled Mahamedkhabib Kadzimahamedau, a two-time Olympic Silver medalist.
