Conor McGregor’s return was set to be the highlight of UFC 303, but the Irishman withdrew due to injury. However, the UFC found an apt replacement and added exciting fights. Sean O’Malley seems excited about the new UFC 303 PPV card.
O’Malley recently appeared on the One Night with Steiny podcast, featuring Tim Welch, O’Malley’s coach. On the podcast, O’Malley had an interesting take on UFC 303’s new main and co-main events.
O’Malley Thrilled by Pereira vs. Prochazka II Rematch and Ortega vs. Lopes ar UFC 303
With McGregor out of UFC 303, the UFC scrapped his fight against Michael Chandler, replacing it with Alex Pereira vs. Jiri Prochazka II. Moreover, they added Brian Ortega vs. Diego Lopes as the co-main event. O’Malley is excited about these fights.
“[Alex] Pereira versus Jiri [Prochazka] rematch will be, I mean, Pereira—something always magical happens when that dude fights, typically a left hook. But I’m actually pretty excited for Brian Ortega versus Diego Lopez. That’s actually kind of a slept-on fight. Out of nowhere, it’s kind of a banger,” said O’Malley.
Pereira vs. Prochazka is the classic technical striking vs. reckless striking matchup. On the other hand, Ortega vs. Lopes promises to be an exciting all-action featherweight matchup. Therefore, it is no wonder why UFC 303 excited O’Malley.
As for O’Malley, he has not fought since UFC 299, where he defeated Marlon Vera. Rumors speculate a fight against Merab Dvalishvili in September at UFC 306 at the Las Vegas Sphere. However, O’Malley revealed December is also a potential date for the fight
