Israel Adesanya is the only fighter in the UFC who holds a victory over Alex Pereira in the UFC. The pair have fought four times, twice each in Kickboxing and MMA. The Brazilian is 3-1 against Adesanya, but the Kiwi has bragging rights after a brutal KO victory in their last fight. Scheduled to face Dircus du Plessis at UFC 305, “The Last Stylebender” recently previewed and predicted the UFC 303 main event.
Adesanya Expects Slow-Paced Fight
Much like when Pereira and Prochazka stepped up to headline UFC 295, the duo did the same at UFC 303. However, they were already on the co-main event of UFC 295 before the UFC elevated their spot. This time, at UFC 303, they will be fighting on the grandest stage on two weeks’ notice. Several fighters have previewed and predicted the fight, Adesanya being the latest.
“I’m going to go Jiri, because we’re The Chosen Few. But also, I think he might have learned from his mistake, because people don’t understand, and also, it makes things interesting. If he beats him, then there’s a trifecta, a trilogy, yeah, I’m going to go Jiri, and I’m going to go by third round or fourth round finish,” Adesanya revealed his prediction as he picked the Czech fighter over his former foe.
Incidentally, Prochazka and Adesanya are under the same management, too. The Kiwi stated that the fight at UFC 303 would be very different from when Pereira and Prochazka fought at UFC 295. Now, the Brazilian will be wary of Prochazka’s wrestling. On the other hand, the Czech Republican will be wary of Alex Pereira’s dangerous striking.
Moreover, Adesanya stated the fight would be slower, particularly as they took it on short notice. Furthermore, he felt Pereira might surprise his opponent with his BJJ, which he recently acquired Black Belt status. Nonetheless, the champion is the betting favorite, and many, including Alexander Volkanovski, Adesanya’s teammate, predicted him to retain the title.
