UFC 303 features an exciting PPV card. CEO Dana White had already revealed he would likely have a tough time picking a Fight of the Night bonus. Moreover, the CEO had increased the bonus from $100,000k to $300,000k for UFC 300, the most stacked numbered UFC card. With UFC 303 being on International Fight Week, Brian Ortega, who will fight in the co-main event against Diego Lopes, had an interesting proposal.
White’s Bonus Decision for UFC 303 Receives Mixed Reactions
The pre-fight press conference of UFC 303 just concluded. All the fighters on the main card were on stage, and most engaged in an intense face-off afterward. At the press conference, reporter Mike Bohn of MMAJunkie enquired whether the UFC would consider giving out two Fight of the Night bonuses for UFC 303.
Moreover, Brian Ortega chimed in, asking for a $303K bonus for UFC 303, considering the UFC gave a $300k bonus for UFC 300. Dana White surprisingly accepted the request, receiving loud cheers from the crowd. However, White revealed he only accepted the two bonus requests, not the $303k one, receiving audible boos from the crowd.
Since Alex Pereira vs. Jiri Prochazka is the main event and Brian Ortega vs. Diego Lopes is the co-main event, fight fans have found it difficult to pick which fight will bag the Fight of the Night bonus. Dana White had the same conundrum.
Nonetheless, Alexander Volkanovski, the former pound-for-pound king, picked Lopes vs. Ortega to bag the bonus. Nevertheless, both fights now have the chance as White has agreed to two bonuses. The main card opener, Ian Garry vs. Michael Page, might also steal the show.
