In the main event of Saturday’s UFC 299 show in Miami, Sean O’Malley turned in one of his greatest performances to date, dominating Marlon “Chito” Vera for five rounds before winning by unanimous decision.
During the main event of UFC 292 in Boston last August, O’Malley defeated Aljamain Sterling, who is regarded as one of the best fighters in the history of the division, via knockout in the second round. This victory gave him the bantamweight title. The Suga Show is undoubtedly here to stay, with the rocket ship and UFC’s hype machine in full force.

Sean O’Malley Gets Honest About Him and Conor At UFC 299 Post-Fight Press Conference
Sean O’Malley continues to promote himself and his chances in a fictitious bout despite his adoration for Conor McGregor.
During the post-fight conference of UFC 299 it seemed like Sean might have made a slight comparison of his PPV event with that of Conor McGregor, as he said, “I am creeping up there, I am getting up there. At the end of the day, UFC doesn’t need anyone, they are gonna be, they are gonna find stars, they are gonna put on crazy fights regardless.”
But looking at the fight, when Conor was at his prime stage of fighting, he dominated his opponents, making a comparison between Conor and Sean O’Malley may seem inevitable as Suga is also following Conor’s footsteps in his fighting career.

The bantamweight champion was asked who he wanted to face next towards the end of his post-fight interview. He made it obvious that his primary priority was the chance to face new featherweight champion Ilia Topuria and become a two-division champion, even though he grudgingly agreed to “knock Merab out” if that was what the UFC and its supporters wanted.
Although a showdown between O’Malley and McGregor is doubtful, fans might speculate about what would have happened if O’Malley had joined the UFC at the height of McGregor’s popularity. O’Malley and McGregor are two of the biggest names in UFC history.
