The UFC’s bantamweight title picture is almost transparent. Merab Dvalishvili is likely next for Sean O’Malley, the champion. Rumors are that the next bantamweight title fight will be on UFC 306 at the Las Vegas Sphere on September 14.
With the slick striking of ‘Suga’ opposing the wrestling-heavy style of ‘The Machine,’ fight fans will be in for a treat if the matchup materializes. The Georgian recently appeared on the Believe You Me podcast, receiving controversial advice.
Criticize American MMA to Hype Fight
Dvalishvili was a recent guest on Michael Bisping’s and Anthony Smith’s podcast. On the podcast. the 33-year-old boldly claimed he would strike with O’Malley, which Bisping and Smith didn’t believe. Interestingly, Bisping, the ex-UFC middleweight champion, advised Dvalishvili to promote the fight against O’Malley.
“Here’s what you’ve got to say for the fight with Sean O’Malley—and I’m not saying this, but you’ve got to say it. ‘American mixed martial arts suck.’ Okay? ‘Ilia Topuria is champion. Giga Chikadze is going to be a champion. Merab, you’re going to go out there and smash one of the only American champs left,’” Bisping said.
“You’ve got to say, ‘Listen, the sport has moved past America, guys. Okay? You all suck. I’m going to smash Sean O’Malley, and you’re running out of American champions.’ I’m telling you, that will hype that fight and get Sean O’Malley’s attention,” the Brit added, stating he loves America, but the Georgian could do it for fight promotion.
Dvalishvili won’t say what Michael Bisping advised, particularly as he recently became a US citizen. Nonetheless, the Georgian fighter has other ways to promote fights. He is a sensation on the Internet with his hilarious skits, particularly the ones featuring Sean O’Malley’s doppelganger.

Nevertheless, what Bisping said about O’Malley being the only US champion left in the UFC is inaccurate. Jon Jones, the arguable MMA GOAT and current undisputed heavyweight champion, is American. Similar is the case for Raquel Pennington, the women’s bantamweight champion. As a matter of fact, only the USA currently has multiple undisputed UFC champions.
