After Dana White began to promote the benefits of water fasting, several celebrities and athletes have followed suit. The list goes from Andrei Arlovski, the former UFC champion, to Josh Brolin, an Academy Award winner. The latest addition to the mix is the hardest puncher in the UFC’s featherweight division – Josh Emmett, a former interim title challenger who lost 10 pounds in 3 days.
The 39-year-old Emmett has not fought since he brutally knocked Bryce Mitchell out cold at UFC 296. In a recent tweet, the 7th-ranked featherweight showed off the effects of a three-day water fast. After he weighed 176 pounds on July 11, the veteran fighter lost 7 pounds with a one-day water fast. The next day, he lost a couple more, weighing 166.9lbs after a three-day water fast.
Notably, Emmett looked visibly ripped after water fasting. The Team Alpha Male featherweight had no abs when he began the fast. However, the abs were visible as the fast prolonged. Dana White had looked incredibly ripped after he water fasted, which set the tone for the practice.
At 39, time is dwindling for Emmett to have a crack at the title. He would likely need help from all quarters. However, power is the last thing to go for a fighter, and nobody punches harder than Emmett at featherweight, even champion Ilia Topuria.
Joe Rogan on Josh Emmett’s Knockout Power
At UFC 296, Giga Chikadze was the original opponent for Josh Emmett before Bryce Mitchell filled in on short notice. In hindsight, Chikadze missed a bullet as Emmett’s brutal knockout of Mitchell reverberated inside the T-Mobile Arena. Joe Rogan spoke of it on one of his podcast episodes featuring Kid Rock.
“Josh Emmett might be the hardest puncher in that division…Look at how that dude’s built…Look at the fu**ing physique on this animal. I mean, Josh Emmett is just a ball of muscle…If that guy hits anybody, they go night-night. I mean anybody, damn anybody,” Rogan said, adding, “He’s built like if you look at his body, it’s just like a fu**ing tank. Just he’s [a] ball of muscle, and he gets so much force into it. And that’s just a gigantic advantage.”

As of now, Emmett doesn’t have a fight lined up. However, the winner of the upcoming matchup between Arnold Allen and Giga Chikadze at UFC 304 seems to be a realistic opponent for the 39-year-old who wants to fight the likes of Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway next.
