UFC commentator and podcast host Joe Rogan found himself in the middle of a heated international debate. Known for his no-holds-barred approach to discussing controversial topics, he has once again stirred up a global conversation. This time, it is about the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Garry Kasparov, a legendary Russian chess grandmaster, didn’t hold back in his criticism of Rogan’s recent podcast comments. In a scathing social media post, Kasparov called out Rogan for spreading what he termed “BS” about Ukraine and its president, Volodymyr Zelensky.
“Rogan is under no obligation to host Zelensky, Klitschko, or anyone else. But after viciously attacking Ukraine with BS talking points, his agenda is clear if he doesn’t allow for equal time. I’ll also offer my services if a chess champion isn’t too threatening for him!”

The controversy stems from Joe Rogan’s recent podcast episodes, in which he discussed the ongoing conflict. In episode #2233 of The Joe Rogan Experience, he criticized Zelensky and suggested that the current diplomatic tensions could potentially escalate to World War III.
It’s worth noting that both Kasparov and Joe Rogan claim to want a quick resolution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict. However, their approaches and understanding of the situation differ dramatically. Kasparov, as a Russian who has been critical of the Russian government, brings a unique perspective to the debate.
Joe Rogan Talks About Hosting An Alleged Murderer On His Show
In February 2024, Rogan welcomed Sheldon Johnson, a man who had just completed a 25-year stint for armed robbery. At the time, Johnson seemed like a classic redemption story. Civil rights attorney Josh Dubin was particularly enthusiastic, calling Johnson a “miracle” of rehabilitation during the podcast appearance. Little did they know that just over a month later, Johnson would be arrested for allegedly killing and beheading his childhood friend.

The aftermath was a mix of shock, disbelief, and dark humor. Rogan and his comedy club colleagues were left reeling, with some joking nervously about how they had no idea what was coming. Dubin was particularly affected, realizing that his endorsement of Johnson as a rehabilitation success story had backfired spectacularly.
Dubin, visibly shaken, admitted to going “into a hole” after the incident. He recognized that this case could potentially damage years of work in criminal justice reform. This case is a stark reminder that rehabilitation is complex, and sometimes, things don’t turn the way people expect.
