Former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor was set to fight former UFC lightweight champion Michael Chandler in a much-anticipated bout. Unfortunately, Conor McGregor had to withdraw due to an injury he sustained during his training camp. While many criticized McGregor for pulling out, UFC commentator Joe Rogan praised his decision to withdraw from UFC 303 due to the injury.
Joe Rogan’s Take on McGregor’s UFC 303 Withdrawal
Joe Rogan has backed Conor McGregor’s withdrawal from UFC 303.
“Here’s the thing about a broken pinky toe: when you kick as much as Conor McGregor, it’s a serious problem. It’s also the same foot where his leg was snapped. He went into that fight injured and has never pulled out of a fight before. This is the first time, and I think it’s wise”, Rogan said in his podcast.
This month, they were scheduled to headline UFC 303 in a five-round, 170-pound match. However, due to McGregor’s injury, the bout has been canceled. Conor McGregor revealed that he broke his toe before the now-scrapped main event against Michael Chandler.
He has faced criticism, with many arguing that a pinky toe injury shouldn’t affect the fight. Recently, McGregor responded to the criticism of X, saying, “I will never enter a fight hurt again, and I will never lose another fight.”
After Conor McGregor’s withdrawal from the sold-out UFC 303 pay-per-view, UFC light heavyweight champions Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka stepped in and saved the event. While some believe McGregor should not have withdrawn, others think he made the right decision.
