No fighter has entertained the masses more in MMA than “The Notorious” Conor McGregor. The Irishman scared fight fans when he called off the Dublin press conference of UFC 303 with Michael Chandler. Many felt McGregor might’ve injured himself, but Michael Bisping doesn’t think so.
McGregor broke the lower tibia in his left shin during his fight with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. Three years have passed since then. The Irishman did appear as a coach opposite Chander in the 31st season of the Ultimate Fighter reality series, setting up a clash against Chandler at UFC 303.
Michael Bisping Gives Final Verdict on Conor McGregor’s Leg Injury
Michael Bisping, the ex-UFC middleweight champion and Hall of Famer, is now a commentator and podcaster. After McGregor had released training footage, Bisping gave his verdict on the rumor about McGregor’s leg injury.
“Look at that little jumping switch kick, little side to side, moving and grooving, jigging and jiving, as I said. Throwing the legs, throwing the kicks with no shin pads on either, so he’s not limping about. He’s not being tentative, he’s not pausing, he’s not being protective, he’s not even wearing shin guards,” said Bisping on his YouTube channel.
On the footage, Bisping noted McGregor training for timing knee at the opponent shooting for a takedown. The Hall of Famer stated that Michael Chandler has a similar way of taking opponents down, which would fit into McGregor’s tactics.
Bisping admitted that legends like Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman have never been the same since they broke their leg. However, he didn’t think it was the same for McGregor, as he felt impressed by what he saw in the Irishman’s training footage.
