Unlike the other major sports leagues in the USA, the UFC and the athletes under them have associated with conservatives. Dana White, Joe Rogan, and most of the fighters have criticized wokeness, particularly the participation of transwomen competing against ciswomen. Recently, Alistair Overeem, a former UFC title challenger, has spoken out against wokeness.
Overeem had a storied combat sports career, winning titles at K-1, Dream, and Strikeforce. Unfortunately, he fell short of UFC glory to Stipe Miocic at UFC 203. The Dutchman was a recent guest on the JAXXON podcast. The 44-year-old made a surprising revelation about his oldest daughter on the podcast.
“I have three girls. The problem is with the oldest daughter. She thinks she is my son, she’s all into this woke nonsense…She’s addicted to her phone she’s being brainwashed basically six seven eight hours a day,” Overeem said, stating he would never call his child by a masculine pronoun.
However, the former title challenger admitted he has love and compassion for his 17-year-old daughter. Interestingly, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson, co-host of the podcast, said transgenderism is by design by powerful people to diminish the human population. Overeem seemed to agree with the idea.
Overeem Critical of Alex Pereira’s MMA Future
In addition to discussing wokeness, Alistair Overeem also spoke about the champions in the UFC. Contrary to the majority opinion, the Dutchman was skeptical about Alex Pereira, citing his lack of all-around skills. The 44-year-old even stated that wrestling and grappling are more important in the present MMA than striking.
“He’s just winning his fights without any grappling or ground game, so I kind of looked into it. I don’t see a long-term future for him because he just doesn’t have that ground game. Even though he’s strong and big, you need to be sharp. You need to be good at taking people down at some point. He is very good in the standup, but I don’t know. I’m skeptical,” Overeem said of Pereira.
