Dustin Poirier has raised eyebrows by alleging that the UFC intentionally avoided negotiations involving Nate Diaz. Coming off a title fight loss to Islam Makhachev at UFC 302, Poirier has revealed a couple more fights left in him. Despite not being with the UFC, rumors of the Stockton fighter’s return to the promotion flirt. However, Poirier seems to disagree with the idea.
Speaking to the Anik and Florian podcast, ‘The Diamond’ revealed that the UFC is disinterested in doing business with Nate Diaz. “When I brought his name [Diaz] up last time, they didn’t want to talk about him. They didn’t want to do business. He’s just… a lot of fans don’t know behind the scenes he’s such a struggle to deal with that I think they just don’t want to do it anymore,” Poirier said.
The former interim lightweight champion also revealed he has first-hand knowledge of doing business with Diaz. According to Poirier, Diaz has turned down a fight against him several times for various reasons. However, if offered, he would sign the contract to fight Diaz.
Diaz left the promotion after defeating Tony Ferguson at UFC 279. Afterward, he boxed twice, losing to Jake Paul and winning against Jorge Masvidal. Diaz appears to have problems with the promoters of his recent fight against Masvidal.
Nate Diaz Files Lawsuit Against Fanmio Over Payment Dispute
Nate Diaz is taking legal action against Fanmio over a dispute from his recent fight with Jorge Masvidal, which Fanmio promoted.
