Dan Ige became an overnight sensation after accepting a fight at UFC 303 against Diego Lopes on four hours notice. With Ryan Garcia flirting with his UFC debut, Ige seems to be the right opponent for the boxer. After all, UFC CEO Dana White defended ‘King Ryan’ for his doping violation, which was a positive sign.
Even though he lost to Lopes, Ige showcased an impressive performance and even won the third and final round of the co-main event. Has the performance warranted a high-profile matchup against Ryan Garcia? Stay tuned and find out.
Ryan Garcia and Dan Ige Fuel Speculation of UFC 306 Fight
Ryan Garcia and Dan Ige had an interesting exchange on X, formerly Twitter. Connecting the dots, it seems like Ige, the former WBC interim champion, will make his MMA debut at UFC 306 at the Las Vegas Sphere. However, neither the UFC nor Dana White has confirmed the fight.
“Fighting @RyanGarcia at the sphere. No weigh in. No takedowns,” tweeted Ige, sending the combat sports community into a frenzy. “Heard a gay ufc fighter called me out to fight at the sphere. Whenever you want. I don’t give a fuck,” Garica tweeted, responding in his signature style.
What fortified the rumors was Ige’s next tweet, “Uncle @danawhite is gonna give you a call. Pick up 💰💰🤙🏽,” which seemingly connected the UFC head honcho with the controversial boxing superstar, a connection never thought would’ve happened.
