The Conor McGregor-Khabib Nurmagomedov rivalry skyrocketed the popularity of the UFC. With victory over McGregor, Nurmagomedov became a global icon, especially in the Middle East. One reason for their heated rivalry was Artem Lobov, a teammate of McGregor.
Nurmagomedov slapped Lobov, resulting in the Irishman and his team catching a jet from Ireland to New York to throw a dolly at the bus carrying the undefeated Russian, preluding UFC 223. However, the relationship has changed for the worse since then.
McGregor-Lobov Feud Escalates
A terrorist attack in Dagestan shocked the world, especially the MMA community, as one of the gunmen killed was a former student of Eagles MMA. After the horrific incident, Conor McGregor wasted no time to shade at his former opponent. The terrorist attack and subsequent raid of Eagles MMA, coupled with Russia’s war on Ukraine, McGregor also threw shade at Artem Lobov.
“@RusHammerMMA born in Russia, in Ireland on benefits. You rat bastard your country is at war and you are in Ireland hiding claiming benefits and SWEARING ON YOUR CHILDS LIFE. Your day is coming mark my words,” tweeted McGregor on X. The Irishman fell out with Lobov after the latter sued the former for profits for the sale of McGregor’s Proper No.12 Whiskey.
“Swearing on your child’s life you sick rat cunt. YOU DONE FUCK ALL ON MY DEAL YOU FUCKING CLOWN. REST IN PISS,” McGregor tweeted again, this time quoting what Lobov said to him when he offered him money for his part in the success of Proper No.12 Whiskey. The Irishman had offered $1 million, but his ex-teammate rejected it, citing grounds of friendship.

However, Lobov sued McGregor after the Irishman sold the Whiskey company for $600 million. Lobov demanded 5% of the total sales, enraging McGregor. If victorious in the lawsuit, Lobov will pocket north of $20 million from his former best friend. The ex-teammate also sued the Irishman for defamation, which he lost on the grounds of freedom of speech.
