After Conor McGregor’s withdrawal, Jiri Prochazka and Alex Pereira stepped in to headline UFC 303, saving Dana White and co. The pair had done the same when Jon Jones pulled out of UFC 295. The challenger and champion have a fanbase, particularly because Prochazka and Pereira embody the spirit of the Samurai warrior and Aztec warrior, respectively.
Dana White Excited for Authentic Pereira vs. Prochazka Fight
The Brazilian secured a second-round TKO over the Czech Republican to claim the vacant light heavyweight title at UFC 295. Pereira was the slight betting favorite for the fight at UFC 295, and the same is true for UFC 303. Funnily enough, Prochazka accused the champion of black magic, to which Pereira provided a stern response, urging the challenger to find his spirit.
UFC CEO Dana White can’t wait for the fight due to the buildup. “This is real. This isn’t fabricated bullshit, where somebody wants to come out with a gimmicky f***ing wrestling-type thing. This is who these two guys really are, man…You know when something is authentic and to the core this is who these people are. As opposed to some bullshit fucking wrestling shit,” said White to Oscar Willis of Maclife.
Not only Dana White but the whole MMA community eagerly awaits seeing Pereira and Prochazka in action. Israel Adesanya, a former foe of Pereira, had picked against the Brazilian, predicting a third or fourth-round finish for the Czech Republican fighter.
On the other hand, Alexander Volkanovski, Adedanya’s teammate, has picked Pereira to retain the title at UFC 303. Light heavyweight contender Magomed Ankalaev has picked Prochazka to win via decision or Pereira to win via KO/TKO.
