Alex Pereria has already built a Hall of Fame resume with several UFC fights. Another fighter looking to recreate the same success is Kayla Harrison, the two-time Olympic Gold medalist in Judo. The duo had a hilarious interaction recently.
Harrison had taught Pereira a judo throw in a shared training session. Though considerably smaller than the Brazilian, Harrison quickly threw Pereira on the ground. Pereira has learned the technique and even employed it on his training partner.
Kayla Harrison Hilariously Promises Yellow Belt for Alex Pereira
Pereira has now become a sensation with his performances inside and outside the Octagon. Most of his social media posts have gone viral. In a video, Pereira threw his training partner to the ground, which caught the attention of Kayla Harrison, who taught him the move.
“When he throws Jiri with this I will promote him to yellow belt. 😤,” Harrison hilariously tweeted, subtly hinting Pereira might use the maneuver in his upcoming title fight against Jiri Prochazka in the main event of UFC 303.
Pereira and Harrison are entirely different fighters. The former is one of the best strikers ever in history, evidenced by his Glory Kickboxing Hall of Fame status. The latter is among the best grapplers/wrestlers in the game, as evidenced by his accomplishments in Judo and the PFL.
Incidentally, Harrison debuted in the promotion at UFC 300, which Pereira and Jamahal Hill headlined. She easily defeated Holly Holm, the ex-bantamweight champion at UFC 300. A title shot or a number one contender fight is potentially next for Kayla Harrison.
