The Welterweight division of the UFC is in an interesting spot right now. Leon Edwards defended his title against Colby Covington a couple of months back. Since then, he has been looking for his next opponent, who he will face in the octagon. Welterweight contender Belal Muhammad called out Leon recently because he believes he deserves the title shot. Leon has not yet responded to his claims and has yet to announce his next title fight with the company.

Belal Muhammad calls out Leon Edwards
Belal Muhammad is on an impressive five-fight win streak in the UFC. He last lost to Geoff Neal in 2019. Muhammad is one of the top contenders in the division right now and has been calling for a title fight for quite some time. Belal and Leon last fought in 2021, and their bout was declared a no-contest due to a brutal eye poke that Belal suffered. In an interview, Belal lashed out at Leon as he wanted to make him come out of his hiding. Belal says,
You have all these guys talking for you. This just tells me that you are that coward that’s hiding behind it/ Let’s try to get this instead. Let’s try to get this instead.
Belal made it clear that Leon was hiding behind his entourage. He hinted that the champ might be avoiding the fight against him. Muhammad carries an immense wrestling pedigree and ragdolls each of his opponents. The last time the two faced off, Belal lost the first round of their bout. Leon displayed his impressive striking skills. Belal might be a great chain wrestler, but he must improve his punches and kicks if he wants to dethrone Leon Edwards.
Belal Muhammad last fought almost a year back and won the fight via a unanimous decision against Gilbert Burns. It will be interesting to see if Belal can do the same to Leon as he did to his former opponents. The UFC has yet to announce its next opponent, Leon. It will be intriguing to watch out for what happens in the Welterweight division in the next few months.
