MMA as a sport is one of the most brutal sports to ever exist. The UFC is often considered the best place for an MMA fighter to be in. One might assume that given the glamour of the fight week and the media attention a UFC event gets that a fighter in the company must be one of the highest paid athletes in the world. As it turns out that’s not the case as former UFC fighter Frank Mir accused the UFC of some heavy stuff.
Frank Mir is most renowned for fighting Brock Lesnar twice inside the UFC octagon.
Frank Mir makes some massive allegations against the UFC
Frank Mir is one of the most recognizable faces in the MMA world given the fact that he spent sixteen years in the company. He holds the record for the most finishes and most submission victories in the UFC Heavyweight history. In a recently held interview Mir made some heavy allegations against the company. He said,
I think when it finally dawned on me was the Deontay Wilder [rematch] with Tyson Fury, We still did more buys than they did, me and Brock, and then I’m looking at the pay-per-view cost. OK, the money was there. Who did it go to?
Seeing these guys make $40 million combined. I’m like wow. Brock obviously made seven figures off it, I think he made $2.5 million. But I didn’t even make a million.
Frank Mir made it clear that when he took on Brock, there event did some impressive PPV numbers. But still he didn’t get paid enough for it similar to the boxers. He emphasized on the fact that Lesnar made North of two million dollars whereas he didn’t even make a single million dollar for the bout that took place a decade and half ago.
Mir made it clear that his boxing counterparts Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury made around forty million dollars. Compared to them the UFC fighters are making chump change. This is not the first time that the UFC has been accused of not paying its fighters well. There have been many instances where the fighters have publicly bashed the UFC for it poor pay.

It’s a shame that some of the UFC legends have to go through abysmal financial rewards for entertaining the MMA world. The fighters would definitely want the UFC to increase the financial compensation given to its fighters in the upcoming months.
