The co-main event of this weekend’s UFC Vegas 90 Fight Night program, which takes place Saturday, April 6, at the Apex in Las Vegas, will put Alexander Hernandez against Damon Jackson in an attempt to snap their losing streaks in the featherweight division.
Hernandez is without a victory since moving from lightweight to featherweight, but his strength of blow could be the deciding factor against Jackson. According to UFC odds, Jackson is a +165 underdog and Hernandez is a -210 favourite.
Preview Of Alexander Hernandez vs Damon Jackson Fight
In the hopes that a size advantage would spur his stalled development, Alexander Hernandez dropped to featherweight, but after two bouts in his new class, he is without a win. In his first fight in the category, he looked like he was going to upset Billy Quarantillo, but he ran out of gas and let Quarantillo win. When he lost to Bill Algeo most recently, the same pattern showed up.
Since switching to featherweight, his conditioning has been horrible. Even while he might think he was undersized for lightweight, he could at least make it through the rounds without appearing to be too tired to continue. Damon Jackson is a tough grappler, so that might be a terrible portent, but he has his issues.

Jackson is a wrestler with chin problems and trouble landing takedowns. However, Hernandez is the superior striker in terms of technique and plays superb takedown defence. It will be difficult for Jackson to get Hernandez on the ground if he is unable to do so. Hernandez’s more forceful blows might put Jackson in danger. Jackson has been winning fights, though not against really good opponents, unlike Hernandez.
Even though he can land takedowns, his striking is lacking, as demonstrated by his recent losses against Quarantillo and Dan Ige. The fact that both of them have vulnerabilities that the other may readily take advantage of makes this a tough fight to choose.

Hernandez is unquestionably the favourite in this match, but supporting him might be too hazardous considering that he is just 2-4 in his last 6 UFC bouts.
