The UFC 302 just concluded, and it was a spectacular affair in the octagon. Islam Makhachev defended his belt against Dustin Poirier by finishing him in the fifth round via a tight D’Arce choke. Meanwhile, the co-main event between Sean Strickland and Paulo Costa was a five-round war in the cage. Strickland emerged victorious and might have gotten closer to retaining his title again.
As it turns out, the UFC does not want its fans to sit idle during the weekends, as the company has put up some great matchups next weekend. Some big names will enter the octagon and fight it out for glory. In this write-up, we look at who all are fighting this weekend in the octagon.
Fighters Competing This Weekend in UFC
Middleweight ace Jared Cannonier is all set to take on a dangerous opponent in Nassourdine Imavov. Cannonier is currently ranked fourth in the Middleweight division. With a win over Imavov, he will put himself in title contention. Imavov is a dangerous opponent, given his grappling credentials in the cage. Cannonier has fought for the title but lost a close fight with Adesanya. He would want to carry forward his win streak.
One more scintillating middleweight clash is set to take place as Julian Marquez will take on Zachary Reese in a three-round bout. He will cement himself as a serious contender with a win over Reese Marques and put the division on notice. Reese will be willing to get into some major brawls, given Julian Marquez’s fight style. Seeing who comes out on top in the cage will be interesting.
