Due to behind-the-scenes issues, Kelvin Gastelum missed weight again, forcing the rescheduling of his UFC match against Daniel Rodriguez. Originally set for the welterweight fight at the Saudi Arabia event, the fight will now take place at middleweight.
Gastelum was previously barred from the welterweight division due to weight loss issues. Meanwhile, Rodriguez emphasized his dedication to the battle while expressing his displeasure with Kelvin Gastelum’s weight problems.
Kelvin Gastelum Will Now Be Moving Up To Middleweight Division
Once more, Kelvin Gastelum had trouble using the weight scale. This weekend’s UFC Saudi Arabia event featured a welterweight match between Gatelum and Daniel Rodriguez. However, according to new sources, he considered making the fight catchweight since he couldn’t lose weight.
The match was shifted to middleweight after Rodriguez agreed to the weight change. This is the second significant alteration to the Saudi Arabia card following the forced withdrawal of main event fighter Khamzat Chimaev from his middleweight match against former champion Robert Whittaker.
After seven years and twelve fights as a middleweight, Gastelum returned to the welterweight class at UFC Austin last December. Sean Brady submitted him in the third round.

Gastelum has a history of scale problems. He has officially missed weight twice and had to postpone another fight because of issues with cutting weight.
The 32-year-old declared on Thursday that he intends to stick at welterweight after Saturday’s UFC Saudi Arabia event at Kingdom Arena, which will feature a middleweight match between Ikram Aliskerov and former champion Robert Whittaker as the main attraction.
