The Middleweight division in the UFC is in a interesting spot. Since Israel Adesanya lost out the Middleweight gold to Sean Strickland the title has never been in stable hands. Dricus Du Plessis is currently the holder of the middleweight strap. Recently the UFC announced that they will be conducting the first ever UFC Saudi Arabia event with Robert Whittaker and Khamzat Chimaev scrapping in the main event.
Robert Whittaker beat out many top contenders including Yoel Romero in order to become the UFC Champion. Whittaker won his last bout against Paulo Costa in a rather impressive fashion.

Robert Whittaker has always been on top of the middleweight rankings in the UFC. He is set to take on the dangerous prospect in Khamzat Chimaev. In an episode released by FullMount MMA Whittaker opened on his bout against the chain-wrestler in Khamzat who’s known for submitting opponents in the first round. He said,
It’s going to be a contender fight. Five round main event. I do understand the task at hand. I am going to be grinding my a** of in this camp. I am looking forward to it. After the fight I didn’t have any injuries. Body’s good. They offered me the fight.
He added,
I am in great headspace to take another hard fight. I am looking forward to it man.

Whittaker took no time to responding affirmatively to UFC’s offer of fighting Khamzat. Robert is one of the absolute fan favorites for this exact reason in the UFC. He has always fought some of the best guys in the division without fail. He last lost to Dricus last year but bounced back in spectacular fashion against Paulo Costa.
Saudi Arabia is set to witness one of the best fighters in action. It’ll be interesting to see how does Robert fares against Khamzat given his wrestling pedigree Chimaev remains the hottest prospect in the middleweight division. Whittaker who himself has an insane grappling ability and one of the best take down defenses seems confident before heading into the training camp of this fight.
It’ll be interesting to see how the UFC Saudi Arabia card turns out to be in the upcoming months. UFC started going to the middle east when it went to Abu Dhabi for the very first time in the pandemic. The events turned out to be phenomenal. It’ll be intriguing to see what happens in Saudi Arabia.
