Max Holloway wowed not just the MMA fans but the entire sports community with his incredible performance at UFC 300. Now, the UFC’s beloved Hawaiian warrior is gearing up for another thrilling bout in 2024. The former featherweight champion and the current BMF champion recently dropped some exciting news for his fans.
Holloway was talking on the stream on the online platform Kick when he confirmed he would be stepping into the octagon one more time this year. But he doesn’t think this will be at UFC 307 in Utah.
“I’m gonna fight one more time this year for sure. I don’t think we fighting in Utah. I think it will be on a different card. Hopefully we get a fight booked in next month or next couple of weeks,” Holloway said.
Anticipation is building, though. Holloway hopes to have his next fight booked within the next month or so. After the incredible UFC 300 performance, his next fight would most likely be against Ilia Topuria for the featherweight belt. Topuria recently posted on X about his potential opponent being forced to sign the contract, implying Holloway is the one.
The timing of his next fight is crucial. There were rumors about Max Holloway fighting at UFC 306 in the sphere, but that one proved wrong. With UFC 307 out of the mix, that just leaves two more events this year, excluding UFC 308 in Abu Dhabi, UFC 309, and UFC 310. Fight fans may see the featherweight bout on the line in one of these events.
Max Holloway Upset About Not Being On The Sphere Card

The UFC Sphere card is set to be a spectacle, taking place at Las Vegas’ luxurious Sphere. Dana White, the UFC’s head honcho, has promised it will be one-of-a-kind. But there’s more to this story than just a fancy venue. The UFC scheduled the event for Mexican Independence Day. This adds a cultural significance to the occasion. This is where Holloway‘s frustration really kicks in. He feels the card should have featured him.
“This is how I feel I about not being on the Sphere card. Sh*t sucks.. should’ve been us brother…It’s Mexican Independence Day. You guys cannot have a Spaniard, who Mexicans got their independence back from, to headline the card,” Holloway stated via his KICK stream.
The main event will see Sean O’Malley defend his bantamweight title against Merab Dvalishvili. Both fighters are coming off impressive victories, but Holloway feels he deserves the spotlight. With such an impressive victory and an impressive resume, fight fans just cannot disagree.
