Alex Pereira has taken the UFC by storm. He has already beaten five champions in his first eight fights in the company. Periera was in the main event of the UFC 300 when he took on Jamahal Hill. Many expressed doubt about Alex’s ability to exchange and wrestle with Hill. He proved everyone wrong as he finished Hill in the first round via a viscous left hook. Chael Sonnen gave out his criteria for when he would consider Alex Pereira to be one of the greatest in the sport.
Alex is hands down one of the most deadly fighters on the planet. In his first few fights, he knocked out some of the company’s best fighters.
Chael Sonnen explains how Alex Pereira can become the GOAT
Former UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen has been to the absolute top of the UFC division. Sonnen is hands down one of the absolute best in the Light Heavyweight division. Pereira has impressed many, including Sonnen, as he became the two-division champion in the UFC. Chael Sonnen was seen talking about Periera on his show and elaborated on how Pereira can enter the GOAT conversation in the UFC. Sonnen said,
If [Alex] became champ-champ-champ, and he is the first person ever to actually do it… we’re not out having a conversation on who the GOAT is. We will just refer to [Alex] as the GOAT
Sonnen clarified that he would consider Alex Pereira the absolute GOAT once he became a three-division champion. Pereira has acquired UFC gold in two different divisions, namely the middleweight and the light heavyweight divisions worldwide. Pereira is one of the top fighters on the pound-for-pound list. Pereira is an elite kickboxer with questionable grappling skills.
After the fight, in the interview with Joe Rogan, Alex clarified that he wants to move to the company’s Heavyweight division. Alex Pereira wants to take on the UFC giants in the Heavyweight division. He will want to fight either Jon Jones or interim champion Tom Aspinall. Dana White did not like Pereira moving up to the Heavyweight division. It’ll be interesting to see what happens in the future with Alex Pereira in the UFC.
