Khabib Nurmagomedov’s cousin Umar has opened up about potentially fighting Sean O’Malley.
Sean O’Malley was recently seen inside the octagon against Marlon Vera. The highly anticipated rematch at UFC 299 was a rather one-sided affair as O’Malley dominated Vera throughout the fight and retained his UFC bantamweight championship.
Earlier this month, rising bantamweight contender Umar Nurmagomedov was also in action. For those unaware, he has an undefeated record of 17-0 and is widely considered to be a future champion in the division.
With a lot of people speculating how a potential fight between Umar Nurmagomedov and Sean O’Malley would go, Nurmagomedov recently opened up about it. During a recent interview with ESPN MMA, the Dagestani fighter spoke about how O’Malley is a dangerous fighter.
While suggesting that if you engage in kickboxing or boxing with Sean O’Malley, he will most likely catch you, Umar Nurmagomedov said:
“If you’re gonna do some distance work with him like boxing or kickboxing, he’s gonna catch you.”

What does Sean O’Malley want to do next?
After losing his first fight against Marlon Vera, Sean O’Malley avenged his loss in spectacular fashion at UFC 299. While many believed that he would call out Merab Dvalishvili for a fight, O’Malley called out a rather unexpected individual.
During the post-fight interview, O’Malley proceeded to call out the newly crowned UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria. Interestingly, Topuria doesn’t seem to be all that interested in fighting ‘Suga’ and has urged him to fight Dvalishvili instead. Moreover, as things stand right now, Topuria would most likely fight Alexander Volkanovski in a rematch later this year.
That said, O’Malley’s next opponent is nowhere near to being decided and it will be interesting to see who he takes on next in what would be his second title defence.
