In the UFC, there are countless “what if” matchups that fans dream about, like Khabib vs. Ferguson or Khamzat vs. GSP. But recently, the fight that has everyone buzzing is Jon Jones vs. Francis Ngannou. It’s a clash of titans, and the potential for fireworks is off the charts. However, UFC star Renato Moicano recently weighed in on why this dream fight might never happen.
Renato Moicano is undoubtedly one of the best when it comes to mic skills. As the buzz around the potential Jones vs. Ngannou fight continues, Moicano recently shared his thoughts on the matter during an episode of his Show Me Money podcast. He pointed out that, despite the excitement among fans, the UFC has no financial incentive to make the fight happen, which is why it’s unlikely to ever take place.
“Why would the UFC put their champion against a PFL champion? They don’t have anything to gain. It’s just not happening,” Moicano said.
Additionally, the co-host, Gilbert Burns, backed up this view, pointing out that Ngannou’s bitter departure from the UFC has made any collaboration between the two sides impossible. Burns and Moicano believe the UFC simply isn’t going to pursue it without a solid reason to do so.
Dana White Rejects Jon Jones Vs. Francis Ngannou
Meanwhile, Saudi’s big-money figure Turki Alalshikh, known for making major fights happen, has revealed he’s planning something huge for Ngannou. He’s reportedly weighing two massive options for the Cameroonian fighter: a high-profile boxing match and an MMA fight that could be one of the biggest in combat sports.
As for Ngannou’s potential bout with Jones, fans had hoped it would go down in Saudi Arabia, especially with the country’s involvement, but now it seems the fight may not happen after all. However, UFC president Dana White quickly shut down the rumors. He clarified that Jones, the reigning UFC heavyweight champion, is set to face interim champion Tom Aspinall next, putting an end to speculation about a potential fight with Ngannou.
