Khamzat Chimaev has taken to social media to share a photo that should have his fans pretty worried.
The UFC middleweight contender is having some difficulty with recovery on the back of his last fight, having suffered multiple injuries when he was in the octagon with Kamaru Usman at UFC 294 two months ago.
The Russian sustained a torn ligament in his right hand and was hoping to avoid surgery, with his reps telling ESPN as much. However, he still ended up going under the knife.
“I’m going to do a surgery, operation in one, two weeks,” he said on Instagram Live. “After that, do the recovery, come back, smash somebody.”
The 13-0 star posted a photo of himself to X from the hospital after surgery and was nearly unrecognizable.
“I was very sick, my hand was injured, so I couldn’t return right away, I want to tell all the fountains, I want to see myself in battle more than all of you, I love this job, I will do and prove that I am the best, as always we do, and I will be back soon to Insha’Allal training,” he wrote as the caption in his native language.
