Ben Askren had good intentions when he wanted to celebrate his wife, but his wording should’ve been so much betetr.
The former UFC star took to Twitter and Instagram this week to praise his wife for being a great mother, but in doing so, it appears he took a massive shot at her looks.
In his comment, which featured a photo of him with Amy and their kids, he wrote, “I’ve seen some guys posting on social media lately about how they are winning bc their wife is attractive, while I don’t disagree I think finding a wife who is a great mother is 500% more important!!!”
He added, “Thanks [Amy] for being such a great mom to our kids.”
That certainly looked like he was calling his wife out for being a good mom without having the good looks.

After being blasted in the comment section, he returned to Twitter and returned fire.
“For those of you who are too dumb to realize multiple things can be true at once. My wife is both very hot and a great mother,” the ex-fighter said. “Being a great mother is way more important as I originally stated.”
His wife even chimed in.
He would then prove to everybody that she isn’t mad and he was not in the doghouse with an update.
Askren began his professional MMA career in 2009 and went on to compile a record of 19 wins, two losses, and one no-contest. He competed in several promotions throughout his career, including Bellator MMA, ONE Championship, and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
In his career, he was also known for his trash-talking and his willingness to engage in verbal sparring with his opponents before fights.
In 2017, Askren retired from MMA to focus on coaching and promoting the sport.
Askren remains a respected figure in the world of combat sports, but he does need to clean up his comments when trying to praise his wife before she makes him submit at home and put him on the couch.
