UFC 310 faced a setback when Belal Muhammad was forced to withdraw from the main event, leading to the cancellation of the title fight. As a result, the co-main event between Kai Asakura and Alexandre Pantoja was promoted to the main event, with Shavkat Rakhmonov now taking Muhammad’s place in the co-main. The main event generates more excitement as Asakura reveals the strategy he plans to use against Pantoja.
Asakura, the former Rizin bantamweight champion, is set to make his UFC debut against flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja at UFC 310 on Dec. 7. While debuting with a title fight is rare, the UFC has chosen to give Asakura this opportunity. In a recent interview with MMA Junkie, Asakura discussed how he matches up against Pantoja.
“I’m a little bit different than the other fighters in the flyweight division. I have the ability to capitalize on one of [Pantoja’s] mistakes and put him to sleep. So that’s what I’m aiming for. That’s what makes my challenge for this type of fight different than anybody else,” Asakura stated.
