With the anticipation for UFC 310 reaching a fever pitch as it gears up to be the company’s final pay-per-view event of the year in December, the fight card is taking shape like a finely crafted masterpiece. While there were already solid matchups on the card, Dana White and his team added even more weight to the card with the announcement of the heavyweight fight between Ciryl Gane and Alexander Volkov. This bout is more than just a contest. It’s a high-stakes chess match where every move matters. Both fighters aim to solidify their legacies and position themselves for a coveted title shot.
Recently, fans were disappointed when UFC 308 experienced major fight withdrawals, leading to the removal of the Gane and Volkov matchup. However, those looking forward to this clash can finally catch the rematch at UFC 310.
It appears that Volkov’s injury, which forced him out of the Topuria vs. Holloway card, will be healed by December. This suggests that it will allow him to be in shape and ready to put on a show. And now the fight will finally take place at the T-Mobile Arena on December 7th instead of Abu Dhabi.
UFC 310: A Brief Preview For Ciryl Gane vs. Alexander Volkov
When it comes to their records, Volkov has far more experience than Gane. The Russian fighter has fought more than three times as many matches as Gane. His record currently stands at 38-10-0, with 24 wins coming by knockout and 4 by submission, resulting in a finish rate exceeding 73%. Moreover, the 35-year-old has claimed the Bellator Championship and has gone up against several prominent names in his career.
Gane, on the other hand, may have less experience, but he has demonstrated his dominance by defeating Derrick Lewis, Serghei Spivac, and Volkov himself. His record stands at 12-2, with his only losses coming against Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou. Aside from those bouts, he has successfully overcome every challenge thrown his way, mostly by finishing his opponents. He boasts 6 wins by knockout and 3 by submission, giving him a finish rate of 75%, which is 2% higher than Volkov’s.
Indeed, it will be interesting to see how the matchup between the two unfolds. On December 7th, the question of whether Volkov can redeem himself will be answered.
